KUALA LUMPUR, March 6 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) will continue to intensify efforts to foster the spirit of unity among the youth through various interesting programmes on social media platforms such as TikTok, said its minister Hannah Yeoh.

Taking the example of the KBS TikTok Contest pilot project with the theme of unity, she said such an initiative was one of the ministry's initiatives in its efforts to instill the spirit of unity, identity and patriotism among the youth.

"We will continue to find creative ways to convey the message to the youth. I think this is a good experiment even though the time was short for us to promote this pilot project.

"We want TikTok to be a healthy platform to send a clear message to our youth. This kind of message is also better for them to hear from their own generation on the meaning unity," she told reporters after the prize presentation ceremony of the KBS TikTok Contest at the Parliament building today

The contest organised by KBS through Institut Pembangunan dan Kecemerlangan Kepimpinan (i-LEAD), took place from Jan 1 to 31 specifically for youth aged 15 to 30 years and the winners were selected based on the most creative unity-themed videos with interesting performances.

It was won by youth entrepreneur Esli Thomas Belawan Ngau, 25, while Universiti Malaysia Sarawak student Mohamad Zul Hariz Mohd Fadzli, 20, was the runner-up. Kolej Matrikulasi Pahang student Nurul Syauqina Najwa Muhamad, 20, came in third.

All of them took home an Iphone 14 Pro.
