BANGKOK, May 14 (Bernama)- Following are some snippets on the Thomas and Uber Cup Finals 2022 that is due to conclude tomorrow (May 15) at Impact Arena, Nonthaburi here, located about half an hour's drive from the city centre:

 

MASCOT "THEVA" KEY CHAIN SELLING LIKE HOT CAKES

The official mascot key chain of the Thomas Cup and Uber 2022 Finals known as Theva’ is a big hit with visitors who are interested in buying the official items of the most prestigious badminton team tournament in the world at the tournament venue.

 

According to seller Ketsopon Burana, the angel mascot inspired by the ancient Ramayana epic costs 169 baht (100 baht= RM12.68) and he has been able to sell about 100 units a day since the first day of the tournament on May 8.

 

He said, other items sold by the organisers are T-shirts priced at 589 baht as well as ‘soft toy’ ‘Theva’ which is available at 299 baht each.

 

 

IMPACT ARENA A FOOD PARADISE

Visitors who are hungry while at the Impact Arena do not have to worry about getting food as many options are available to fill an empty stomach.

 

Apart from cafes owned by local entrepreneurs, several premises including internationally famous fast food restaurants also operate here.

 

All the food premises are only open if there is a sports tournament or entertainment event including concerts at the venue, which can accommodate about 11,000 spectators at a time.

 

 

GUBERNATORIAL ELECTION POSTER WAR IN BANGKOK

Apart from coming back to life with the presence of foreign tourists, Bangkok is also lively with the poster war of candidates in the Bangkok gubernatorial election, which will be held on May 22.

 

Interestingly, the posters hung around the city also feature fresh design patterns as well as attractive offers to entice voters to choose them.

 

The last time a Bangkok gubernatorial election was held was before the military coup in Thailand in 2014.
